Capt. Ratnakar Karve

Capt. Ratnakar Karve is a Master Mariner with an international sea career spanning 40 years from 1977 to 2017. He is a self-taught artist. He started painting while at sea as a way to de-stress and as a hobby during his free time.

 

Most of the paintings are done while at sea while the Air-dry clay sculptures are done while at home. The theme for both is nautical related and the medium is mainly oil on canvas.

He is also a model ship builder and has completed three wooden

1:200 scale models of some of the most famous sailing ships.
